Grove

Clients wanted a gated patio that felt contemporary while also giving the impression that it had always been a part of the house. The foundation of the program was the composition of beautiful handmade bricks, arranged in a herringbone, stretcher orientation to bridge between contemporary and traditional brick laying. Working with a local foundry, historic reproductions of 19th century Richmond cast-iron components were fabricated using traditional sand castings, further serving to anchor the patio to a sense of Place.
